This is cool and fitting for the site because this is a special Chicago edition, focusing on MK with an edition dedicated to the birthplace of MK. The system's been around for years, the MK games have even been available for it I believe, I know they've had midway packs for a long time. I used to play 19XX on an Ultracade system at Seaside Heights NJ on this enormous screen. Ultracades usually have coin slots and everything. You could even put one of these in an arcade and accept money to play them.

It has proprietary emulation software and I am not sure what the hardware is like. This is a special version with a different set of games preloaded on its harddrive. All are real classic arcade games legally licensed. If you want to add more you have to buy them in game packs that cost a few hundred dollars. Usually you buy a base system with 86 games on it for a couple of thousand. most come with ALL MK'S (up to UMK3) Its not a MAME cabinet, its an Ultracade system. Search for MAME Cabinet on google and see all of the websites that allow you to get these machines. Anywho, I'm surprised MKO.COM featured this here.

Or you can spend a few hundred and build your own :) It's not too hard. There are 100's of sites on the net you can download these. (I built my own) They use roms you download off the net. I'm pretty sure it is anyways, and they aren't legal to own. Our thanks to forum member buterbals113085 for the heads-up on this interesting item!ĬRKFIEND Wrote:Uhhhh, guys. To visit the official website for the Arcade Legends unit, click here. Granted, this is most likely priced outside of the budget of the average MK fan, but for the MK and arcade fan with a few bucks to spend, it is certainly appealing. While the standard unit is priced at $2975 for the stand-up version and $2875 for the cocktail table version from sites such as BMI Gaming, a smaller version with a 19" monitor (as opposed to a 25" monitor) is available from places such as Costco.

The unit is available in both stand-up and cocktail table formats. What makes this unit remarkable to MK fans is the fact that the base unit includes the original Mortal Kombat arcade game.
